In 2012, the BMW adds the 1-Series Coupe to the M performance lineup. Essentially a BMW M3 chassis with Competition Package packed into a modified 1-Series body, the 1-Series M Coupe features a 335-horspower inline-6 engine with a temporary torque overboost function good for an extra 37 lb-ft and posts a 0-to-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds. It is delivered with a 6-speed manual transmission only, and the exhaust system is tuned to deliver BMW's characteristically throaty sound. The 1-Series Coupe and Convertible receive an updated front fascia design to smoothe airflow over the front wheels to reduce wind resistance. The 1-Series models also receive updated headlight and taillight assemblies

Wife loves it! by Rolf in La Jolla on 03/03/2013. Trim: 2012 BMW 135i Convertible, Owned 1 year.

Pros: As usual, BMW straight 6 does just fine in the acceleration and linear power department. Very BMW in the power and handling aspects. Surprisingly good mileage for the performance offered. Not as many around vs three series.
Cons: BMW interiors not like they were 10-15 years ago. Hate the run flat tires. Useless back seats. Feminine styling.
Overall review: Not a bad car overall, I loved it for the short time we've owned it. Probably wouldn't buy again but who knows. Handles and accelerates well but not sure I could live with this day in-day out. Wife likes it so there you go.
