The Subaru Impreza is an all-wheel-drive compact that comes in a four-door sedan or five-door hatchback. The 2002 model took a step towards performance with the introduction of the WRX. Also in 2002, the Impreza 2-door was discontinued and Impreza was only offered as a 4-door sedan or wagon. The powerful WRX STi was added for 2004. For 2008 the Impreza was totally redesigned with a longer wheelbase that improves ride, interior space and utility. The new 4-door is 4.5 inches longer than the previous sedan and 6.5 inches longer than the 5-door models. The 4-door sedan shares the same design in the front with the 5-door but is differentiated by red light lenses and a chrome strip below the trunk at the rear.
