The Ram 1500 is a full-size half-ton Ram pickup that was previously sold under the Dodge brand. The Ram 1500 is updated for 2013 with new grilles for different trim levels, aerodynamic improvements, new instrument panel and a more fuel efficient 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with an 8-speed TorqueFlite 8 transmission. The Ram received an extensive redesign for 2009 with aggressive style now expected from the Ram but in a more aerodynamic package. The design included a body-mounted grille that is canted forward, an all-new aluminum hood with more pronounced power bulge, large headlights that flow back into the front fenders, a front air dam that is fully integrated with the front bumper and a rear spoiler integrated into the tailgate. The Ram 1500 features a new multilink mounting design for the rear axle and rear coil springs with forward-facing shock absorber brackets that saves 40 lbs. over the previous leaf-spring design. The boldly styled Ram replaced the previous Dodge pickup in 1994 and tripled Dodge’s market share. The Quad Cab was added for the 1998 model year and the Ram was redesigned for 2002. The Mega Cab joined the lineup for 2006 but was replaced for 2009 by the Ram Crew 1500 with a 5-foot 7-inch box.
