The SL-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz two-seat roadster that first debuted in 1957. The SL500 went on sale in the spring of 2002 as a 2003 model, and was joined that fall by the high-performance SL55 AMG. The SL600 joined the lineup for 2004 and the SL65 AMG was added for 2005. For 2007 the SL-Class was restyled with a more aggressive exterior and a more refined interior. The 2013 SL received a new aluminum body that cut over 200 pounds from the car's weight and a new 4.6-liter V8 engine replaced the previous 5.5-liter V8.
