The Suzuki Swift is the twin to the Chevrolet Metro hatchback, but has a more-powerful standard 4-cylinder engine, available only as an option in its sibling. The current Swift was introduced in 1995, and is the second generation of the vehicle to be sold in the U.S. The Swift ranks near the top in the U.S. government's fuel economy tests, and is built both in Canada and Japan. The Swift was named one of the top 12 "greenest" vehicles in 1999 by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.
