The Impreza is Subaru’s all-wheel-drive compact which was redesigned for the 2012 model year featuring a bolder, lighter design, and a new, more efficient powertrain offering a 30 percent increase in fuel economy over the previous model. The Impreza continues to be offered as either a 4-door sedan or a 5-door hatchback, and like all Subaru models, the entire Impreza line is offered with standard all-wheel drive. The 2002 model took a step toward performance with the introduction of the WRX. Also in 2002, the Impreza 2-door was discontinued and Impreza was only offered as a 4-door sedan or wagon. The powerful WRX STi was added for 2004. For 2008 the Impreza was totally redesigned with a longer wheelbase that improved the ride, interior space and utility.
