Introduction
The Tribeca is Subaru’s midsize SUV that is built on the same platform as the Outback wagon. Originally named B9 Tribeca when it debuted in 2005 as a 2006 model, the name was changed to simply Tribeca for 2008 and the exterior styling was updated. The original exterior styling was intended to reflect Subaru’s heritage as an aircraft maker but was polarizing at best, with a controversial, front end design. For 2008 the Tribeca received a new wider, taller grille which is now integrated with the front bumper, virtually all new body panels, a new shape for the side glass with new rear quarter-windows, new mirrors and new taillights. At 3 inches longer, 4 inches wider and nearly 5 inches taller than the Outback, the Tribeca offers available 7-passenger seating. The Tribeca interior design is very modern, yet very functional with upscale materials and excellent ergonomics.
