The iQ is Scion’s new premium micro-subcompact that is only 10 feet long but can seat four people, making it the world’s smallest four-seat car. Scion states that four-passenger seating is accomplished by intelligent and functional packaging made possible by six engineering innovations that allow the iQ to be small in size but large in capacity. Front-end length is reduced by the use of a compact front-mounted differential, high-mount steering rack with electronic power-steering, and a compact air-conditioning unit. A flat gas tank positioned beneath the floor reduces rear overhang. Slim-back front seats optimize rear legroom and the “3+1” offset seating arrangement allows one adult to sit behind the front passenger and a child or small package can fit behind the driver.
