Introduction
The Cayman is Porsche’s mid-engine coupe that is based on the Boxster S roadster, but draws both inspiration and components from the legendary Porsche 911 Carrera. The Cayman receives updates for the 2009 model year for the first time since it was added to the Porsche lineup for 2006. The Cayman S is the first mid-engine coupe from Porsche since the 914 model of the 1970s—other than the limited-production Carrera GT supercar. The Cayman S also shares a spiritual connection to the Porsche 550 Coupe and the Porsche 904 Carrera GTS Coupe, two legendary Porsche race cars. The sport coupe has curvaceous rear fenders and the rear hatchback slopes smoothly down to the automatically extending rear spoiler for a very distinctive look.
