The Versa is Nissan’s entry-level subcompact offered in both hatchback and sedan version that is the most affordable vehicle in the Nissan lineup. Built on Nissan’s “B” platform, the Versa name reflects the “versatile space” provided by the roomy interior and cargo area. Introduced in 2006 as a 2007 model 5-door hatchback, the sedan version was added to the lineup later in 2006. The 2012 Nissan Versa sedan received a ground-up redesign, while the 2012 Versa hatchback remained essentially unchanged after exterior and interior upgrades in 2010. The 2012 sedan was based on Nissan's all-new front-wheel drive global “V” platform, featuring a CVTC 16-valve 1.6-liter engine that weighed 150 pounds less than its predecessor.
