The Sable is Mercury’s midsize sedan that returned to the Mercury lineup for 2008 replacing the Montego. The Sable was redesigned with signature Mercury design elements from the Mercury Mariner SUV and Mercury Milan sedan, such as the waterfall grille, satin aluminum accents, high contrast interiors and upscale trim. The Montego joined the Mercury lineup for 2005 and replaced the Sable for the 2006 and 2007 model years. The Sable was introduced as a 1986 model, built on the same platform as the Ford Taurus. The fourth-generation Sable arrived for 2000 with more conservative styling and offered adjustable pedals for the first time in a midsize sedan.
