The Mazda6 is Mazda’s sporty midsize sedan that is completely redesigned for 2014 and incorporates the KODO “Soul of Motion” design language and Mazda’s performance-oriented but fuel efficient SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY. The 2014 Mazda6 is powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter gasoline engine, with a SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine joining the lineup as an option in the second half of 2013. When the Mazda6 was redesigned for 2009, the bold design incorporated design cues from the CX-7 including the aggressive front fender lines and the fast roofline. The 2009 Mazda6 was larger than its predecessor with a 4.5-inch longer wheelbase, wider front and rear tracks, 2.3-inch increase in width and a total gain of 6.1 inches in overall length. The Mazda6 replaced both the 626 and the Millenia in the Mazda lineup for 2003. The 626 first arrived in 1979 and in 1988 it became one of the first Japanese-brand cars to be built in the U.S.
