The Sorento is Kia’s midsize SUV that is redesigned for 2014, just three years since the last new design. The new model is built on an all-new platform designed to improve the ride, handling and comfort. The 2014 Sorento adds the SX Limited as the top trim level, available exclusively with the new 290-horsepower 3.3-liter GDI V6 engine and is the first Kia model to offer the next-generation UVO eServices voice-activated telematics system. The previous generation Sorento went on sale in January 2010 as a 2011 model and became Kia’s best-selling model in the U.S. At that time the Sorento moved to a unibody platform to better compete in the hot crossover segment by offering more interior space, better ride comfort and room for up to seven occupants. The Sorento originally joined the Kia lineup for 2003, at that time replacing the compact Sportage that later returned to the lineup. The second-generation Sorento debuted for 2007 with exterior and interior updates, as well as an increase of 70 horsepower to 262 horsepower for the 3.5-liter V6 engine.
