The Optima Hybrid is Kia’s first hybrid for the U.S. market, which joined the Kia lineup for the 2011 model year and is based on the midsize Optima sedan that was redesigned for 2011. The Optima Hybrid receives aerodynamic design updates for the 2014 model year. Powered by a full parallel hybrid system, the Optima Hybrid can be driven in full-electric mode at speeds up to 62 mph or in combined gas-electric mode at any speed. At a complete stop and when the electrical load is low, the engine shuts down completely to eliminate idle fuel consumption and emissions. The Optima Hybrid builds on the dramatic styling as the new Optima with unique features that include the front grille design, 16-inch alloy wheel design, restyled headlights, fog lights, heated outside mirrors, front and rear bumper designs, side sills and LED taillight design.
