The Optima Hybrid is Kia’s first hybrid for the U.S. market, based on the midsize Optima sedan that is redesigned for 2011. Powered by a full parallel hybrid system, the Optima Hybrid can be driven in full-electric mode at speeds up to 62 mph or in combined gas-electric mode at any speed. At a complete stop and when the electrical load is low, the engine shuts down completely to eliminate idle fuel consumption and emissions. The Optima Hybrid builds on the dramatic styling as the new Optima with unique features that include the front grille design, 16-inch alloy wheel design, restyled headlights, fog lights, heated outside mirrors, front and rear bumper designs, side sills and LED taillight design.
