The Sonata Hybrid is the hybrid version of Hyundai’s midsize sedan and was Hyundai’s first hybrid vehicle for the U.S. market. The Sonata Hybrid is powered by Hyundai’s Direct Hybrid Blue Drive system, a full parallel hybrid system which allows the Sonata Hybrid to be driven in fully electric drive mode at speeds up to 62 miles per hour. At a complete stop and when the electrical load is low, the engine shuts down completely to eliminate idle fuel consumption and emissions.
