The Escape is Ford’s compact 4-door SUV which is all-new for 2013 with a sleek new aerodynamic design, new technology, more cargo volume and two EcoBoost engines for improved fuel economy. The 2013 Escape is the first vehicle U.S. market vehicle to offer the 178-horsepower 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine and also offers the 240-horsepower 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, both matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Escape features an available hands-free motion-sensing power liftgate and an upgraded MyFord Touch system. The Escape originally joined the Ford lineup for 2001 and was built on a platform that was developed with Mazda and shared with the Mazda Tribute. For 2008 the Escape received an extensive interior makeover and a more rugged exterior design to bear a stronger family resemblance to the Ford Explorer and Ford Expedition. Inside, the seating surfaces are made from 100 percent post-industrial materials rather than new fibers, a process that helps conserve water and electricity.
