Introduced in 1993 as a 1994 model, Aspire replaced Festiva as Fords entry-level passenger car. Like its predecessor, Aspire is a product of Korea. After three years on the market this roomy subcompact still stands out as one of the industrys lowest-priced vehicles and one that scores among the highest in fuel economy ratings. Aspire consistently has been the second-best-selling car in its segment. For 1997, fresher looks overall and peppier performance on automatic-transmission models mark the major changes. New models sport smoother appearance with redesigned bumpers that blend with the body, an oval-shaped grille, redesigned tail lights and a wider fascia opening in front that also enhances engine cooling.
