The Ferrari 458 Italia is Ferrari's mid-engine V8 sports car that is joined for the 2012 model year by the open-top 458 Spider, the first mid-engine sports car with a retractable hardtop. The 458 Italia debuted as a 2010 model, replacing the F430 in the Ferrari lineup. The three-piece aluminum roof of the 458 Spider folds up or down in only 14 seconds, requires only 3.5 cubic feet of storage space and is 55 pounds lighter than a comparable soft-top. Both versions are powered by a 570-horsepower 4.5-liter V8 engine mated with Ferrari’s 7-speed dual-clutch F1 paddle-shift transmission.
