The ActiveHybrid 5 is BMW’s hybrid version of the 5-Series sedan that combines an internal combustion engine and an electric motor for enhanced efficiency while continuing to offer BMW’s signature dynamic driving experience. The ActiveHybrid 5 combines BMW’s TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine, an electric drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission for the first time. The drive system generates a total of 335 horsepower and can be driven on electric power alone up to 37 mph for 2.5 miles.
