The Outback is Subaru’s all-wheel-drive wagon with SUV styling which was all-new for 2010. Based on the same platform as the Subaru Legacy sedan, the Outback has replaced the Legacy Wagon in the Subaru lineup. Prior to the 2008 model year, the Outback included both sedan and wagon versions. The Outback was introduced as a 1994 Legacy trim and was set apart from other Legacy trims for 1996. The Outback Sport Wagon, based on the Impreza Wagon, was introduced for 1995. In 2008, the Legacy-based Outback received a face lift as well as an upgraded interior. In 2013 the Outback rececived a midcycle refresh that included a new, more powerful and efficient 2.5-liter boxer engine for the 2.5 trims and a new front fascia and a stiffened body structure and suspension for all trims.
