The WRX is Subaru’s rally-inspired all-wheel-drive performance car that is redesigned for 2015. The all-new WRX features a stiffer, more agile chassis and an Active Torque Vectoring system to reduce understeer. The WRX receives a new 268-horsepower 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged BOXER 4-cylinder engine with a new standard 6-speed manual transmission. A new Sport Lineartronic transmission with manual shift mode is optional. The new WRX STI is offered exclusively as a sedan with a bolder aerodynamic body design that includes special hood, fenders, doors, quarter panels, bumpers, headlights and taillight clusters. The WRX STI is powered by a 305-horsepower turbocharged/intercooled 2.5-liter BOXER engine with a reinforced 6-speed manual transmission. The Driver Controlled Center Differential offers with three automatic modes that each applying a different degree of center differential locking to match different driving situations. In manual mode the driver can select from six different locking levels up to 50:50 to optimize all-wheel-drive performance. Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) allows the driver to tailor the car’s driving characteristics by choosing from three modes that alter vehicle performance characteristics by regulating the engine control module and by fine-tuning the electronic throttle control system. The WRX was introduced for the 2002 model year when the Impreza 2-door was discontinued and Impreza was only offered as a 4-door sedan or wagon. The powerful WRX STi was added for 2004.
