The XJ Series is the flagship of Jaguar’s line of premium luxury sedans and was completely redesigned for 2011 with a sleek design and refined luxury that is true to the Jaguar brand. The XJ is built with aerospace-inspired aluminum body technologies that offer benefits to performance, handling and fuel economy, while delivering increased strength, refinement and safety. The lightweight aluminum structure makes the new XJ at least 300 lbs. lighter than steel body construction and it is made with 50 percent recycled material, bringing new standards of sustainability to the luxury vehicle segment. The XJ sedans are descendants of the classic S-type Jaguars of the late '50s and early '60s, with the first XJ sedan debuting in 1968. Jaguar buyers have benefited from Ford's acquisition of Jaguar in 1990 that resulted in increased quality and reliability. Ford sold Jaguar to Tata Motors in 2008.
