The Sonata is Hyundai’s entry in the competitive midsize sedan segment that was all-new for 2011 with dramatic new styling and a highly-efficient powertrain. The design follows Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture cohesive design language that will be seen in future Hyundai models. The Sonata originally debuted in 1989 and when it was redesigned for 1995, sales increased by 25 percent. The fifth-generation Sonata debuted for the 2006 model year with an all-new look that was specifically designed for the American market. The Sonata received styling and performance updates for 2009 before the complete makeover for 2011.
