Pros: acceleration, handling, comfort (fits like a glove). everything stll works after 13 years. ford dealer tells me mine is one of about 500 sleepers equipped with a 230 hp v6 designed for possible police vehicle evaluation--he wants to buy it if i ever sell it. (hope he's not pulling my leg!) 148000 miles, still going strong. have surprised a few bmws with it. no non-routine maintenance in 5 1/2 years.
Cons: headlamp lens covers clouded up; dealer oem replacements are pricey, parts yards ditto if they have them in good condition; aftermarket lens covers not made. i rarely drive after dark, anyway, so i'll live with it.
Overall review: car had 75000 miles in december '97 when we bought it for a family car. now has 148000 miles, runs great. used as a work vehicle, full of tools and equipment, still gets 16 mpg around town and 21 mpg highway. burns no oil. only thing i ever had to fix was replacing the water pump at 145000 miles--did it myself for $40, easy job. the ergonomics are great--the car feels like an extension of me when i get in...everything right where it should be and within easy reach.
