This vehicle was originally charged with R-12 refrigerant which is no longer being manufactured. Conversion to the new R-134A refrigerant may be possible; however, Subaru has not yet released any information on retrofitting R-12 based systems to R-134A based systems. The refrigerant is still available, but it is very expensive ($25.00-$50.00 per pound, 2-5 pounds per vehicle).
