Styling, agility, ride, quietness, fun to drive, braking.
Visibility, slightly snug cabin, small trunk opening.
The Fusion is a delight to drive and is quite stylish. All versions have a solid, upscale feel, with a supple ride, agile handling, and sharp steering. The main engines are 1.6- and 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinders, both mated to a six-speed automatic. In testing we got 25 and 22 mpg overall, respectively, which isn't stellar. The 1.6-liter is fine, but the 2.0-liter is punchier. The Hybrid can go short distances in EV mode. It smoothly alternates between electric and gas power, and gets an excellent 39 mpg overall, the best among family sedans. The cabin is nicely furnished and has decent interior room. The Energi plug-in hybrid can run in EV mode for about 20 miles.
