Derived from the Honda CR-V, the newest RDX is a major improvement over its stiff-riding and unrefined predecessor. Styling, handling, and interior quality are unexceptional, but the RDX is well equipped for the price and easy to live with. The smooth and capable 273-hp V6 and six-speed automatic returned a respectable 22 mpg overall. Handling is sound but not especially agile, and the ride is still a little stiff. Interior ambience is rather plain-Jane for a supposedly upscale SUV, but the seats are comfortable and the simple controls are easier to use than in most competing vehicles.
