The Elantra sedan is one of our top-rated small sedans. It combines nimble handling with a fairly comfortable, well-controlled ride. The 1.8-liter four-cylinder and six-speed automatic deliver solid performance and a very good 29 mpg overall. A six-speed manual is also available. The car is well equipped for the price, the interior is nicely laid out, and the car has decent rear-seat room. Our two major gripes are the low-mounted dash vents and pronounced road noise. A GT hatchback and a coupe version will go on sale soon.
