Nice Truck by Avalance Owner on 10/21/2011. Trim: 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 2WD, Owned 9 years.

Pros: The space. It is unbelievable how much stuff and people you can squeeze into this truck without comprimising comfort and safety. We take our family of 5 camping in this truck. We all fit comfortably in th cab. We can even fit stuff under the seats to. We take tons of stuff camping and we camp like kings.
Cons: We had a lot of problems with the fuel guage sensor & had the fuel pump go out twice since we bought it. You can tell when its about to go, as soon as the fuel guage starts showing that very little gas is being used for trips that normally take longer, thats how I know the fuel pump is about to go. We also have problems with (& I see lots of avalanches on the road that have this same problem) the daytime and fog lamps going out. One side will go out, then as soon as you change those, the other side goes out. It doesn't matter if you change both sides at the same time. Also, if you drive through flooded streets during a rainstorm, if enough water gets up in the engine, the horn goes out.
Overall review: This truck is really nice (minus all the problems we had with it). I still own it today. I guess the dealer finally fixed the problems with the fuel guage, we haven't had problems since. It does get really bad mileage (I have the 37.5 gallon tank). If you can drive this truck and leave the lead foot at home, you'll be suprised at how much longer your tank of gas will last. At today's gas prices, I'm paying about $140 for a tank of gas

Pros: its versatility, haul people to lumber. there is no comparison when it comes to the mid gate. back window out for spring, to full drop for hauling or the ultimate beach cruzer for you and your friends. will pull anything under 7k pounds. if you need more than that get the 2500 with the big block. mine is the Z71 with grey clading and I like it because its differant. the ride is impecable. the power is adequit for the jobs at hand. at 22kmi no major problems and has served it dutys with ease it realy is a great UUV. just drive one and you will buy one, its that simple. once you own one everything else is just a truck! I own a U.U.V ultimate urban vehicle
Cons: this UUV has had a few things I do not like but that is expected. first is the grey clading has faded zebra strips on a few areas but fixable under warenty. the black clading did not have that problem the engine has had to have minor repairs to the lifters for smoking but under warenty also. there are a few other things that have been done but as expected for a first model year. the 2003 and up have had most of my problems fixd and up grades are numorus
Overall review: my overall reveiw is a good one 8 of 10 after two years and 22k mi I would not trade it for another truck out there. it has handled all of my chores with ease. I intend on keeping it for ten years or more. it handles well for a truck its size and I feel safe with my family inside. I bought it for the long hauls over the years. with four wheel drive and the versatility of the camper it is truly the ultimate urban vehicle. I can go anywhere or do any thing I want in this truck because I have what others dont. the ability to

Best of Both Worlds by Ben on 08/17/2007. Trim: 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4WD, Owned 5 years.

Pros: handles like a dream, best driving pickup, I've ever had the pleasure to own. I have 102000 miles on it and it still is top mechanical condition. Review keeps showing, owned less than 1 year, which is incorrect, I purchased the Truck new in July of 2002, and still own and operate it every day.
Cons: the two things I dislike about it , are the seats are not as comfortable as the Silverado.the other is on the rear disc brakes( inside the rotors are a set of brake shoes for the parking brake. I did not know they were there and had to replace the rotors as well as the shoes. in my opinion this is a poor design.
Overall review: trouble free, replaced rear wheel bearing and inner parking brake shoes on rear disc brake.
