Awesome Rig by An MSN Autos Consumer on 04/07/2012. Owned 8 years.

Pros: Our family truckster has been used and abused for 150k miles with very little complaint. 3 kids can put a beat down on a vehicle in a hurry and our Sequoia has had more french fries hidden between the seats over the years than I care to admit, but this truck is an all star of loyal service. I recently had the vehicle professionally detailed and have fallen in love with it again.
Cons: Backing up in small parking lots.
Overall review: Great family vehicle that does it all

Toyota's reliability is not so great anymore... by An MSN Autos Consumer on 09/09/2010. Trim: 2001 Toyota Sequoia Limited 4WD, Owned 9 years.
1
Pros: Roomy and eight passenger seating
Cons: Low fuel economy and Toyota's reliability is not so great anymore.
Overall review: I bought this vehicle just after it came out and I was very excited since this was a Toyota and the only foreign SUV that could handle our family of six. This was my 3rd Toyotas (my other two was excellent) but after the purchase I started to have problems. First it was minor items like having handles coming off or my rear door power window not working or constant rattle noise and so forth. Then at 80K miles, my transmission went out (which was very expensive to replace) and at 100K, my ABS system went out (too expensive to repair). I contacted the Toyota corporation but they never responded to my complaints. I still have the car and it has over 180K but I had to replace/repair constantly. Due to financial constrain I couldn't replaced it sooner but now looking to replace it with Hyundai Veracruz or even GM or Ford.

AC compressor problems by An MSN Autos Consumer on 04/07/2004. Trim: 2001 Toyota Sequoia Limited 2WD, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros: Very comfortable seats. 3rd row seating is comfortable and ample leg room. Drives and handles great.
Cons: The throttle sensor already went bad on it causing it to not be able to back up even with accelerator pushed down. $450 part. AC compressor needs to be replaced before 70k miles!! $1200
Overall review: This vehicle is 2-3 yrs old (I have only had it for 9 mos.). The throttle sensor already went bad on it causing it to not be able to back up even with accelerator pushed down. I was hearing a fan type noise and took it to the Toyota dealership. They said AC compressor was going bad and totally had to be replaced. This noise started occuring around 54k miles. I had a 1996 Toyota 4Runner and loved it. Sold it when it had 150k miles on it and never had ANY major issues with it. I needed more towing capability so bought the Sequoia. It certainly does not live up to Toyota reliability and reputation!

So So.... by Nidia on 07/02/2003. Trim: 2001 Toyota Sequoia SR5 2WD, Owned 2 years.
1
Pros: The roominess of the vehicle is excellent especially the legroom for the third seat. Even while using the 3rd seat, there is still some cargo space available.
Cons: Being that we bought it the first year it came out, we have had to deal with MANY 'bugs' with it iwth minor yet still annoying items like shaky seats, vents that dont seal properly, a door to the gas tank that wouldnt open, a leak in the back hatch door, , a faulty AC outlet, and lots of little plastic pieces that jsut refuse to stay on. The biggest repair made to date was the replacement of the AC blower resistor which controls the AC for the rear of the vehicle went out at about 50,000 miles and after having the vehicle only 2 years. Oh, and we have consistently had problems wiht the remotes for keyless entry.
Overall review: It is a good vehicle as far as i know in regards to the emgine performance but all these little things that continue to do wrong jsut really make us think twice about our decision.
