Mediocre and Impractical by Michelle from Black Lake, BC on 07/11/2003. Trim: 2001 Mazda MX-5 Miata Base, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Nostalgic yet modern look. Decent handling on smooth pavements. Good visibility with the top down. Added safety features.
Cons: Balky and unrefined engine. It could use extra 40 hp to spiritly move this car. Very tight interior and uncomfortable seats with limited seat adjustments. Virtually non-existent cargo space. Poor visibility with the top closed, and for some people like me a clausterphobic experience. Loose steering feel that feels way too over-assisted. Mediocre gas mileage for a such small car. Some water leak around the windshield.
Overall review: The engine feels inadequate for this car which has gotten heavier over the years, yet the interior feels quite snug. If you play golf, I hope it's miniature golf, as you wouldn't be able to fit a full-sized golf bag in the car. The handling is unpredictable, slow and too light. Putting up the convertible top is a chore and it doesn't always fit correctly.

Love my Miata by Patrick form Havertown, PA on 04/11/2003. Trim: 2001 Mazda MX-5 Miata LS, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Style and handling - nothing like accelerating thru a corner and sticking like glue. This car does not have a lot of bells and whistles, but it is put together very well - beauty in simplicity. People see you on that first spring day and would trade you the $50K SUV in a second. 2 years and it has NEVER been in the shop - EVER !!!!!!!!! I would sell this car to my best friend without hesitation - how many people can say that.
Cons: The cup holders are pretty much useless except for holding change and some mints - 1 of 2 poor design factor I can find(but there is really no where else to put them). Mysterious rattle in passenger side seat. Having the trunk and gas cap release in the armrest - you need to be a contortionist to open it and I always forget to re-lock it after filling up - leaving the trunk virtually unlocked to crooks - I unhooked the cable to solve this. The stereo needs more power to compensate for highway speeds.
Overall review: One of the most fun cars in the world to drive. NOTHING under $35 even comes close.
