Fun to drive
by Horacio from Wheeling.IL on 03/07/2010.
Trim: 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE Sedan, Owned 8 years.

Pros:
Its stylish/sporty looking, good paint.Responsive in accelaration and handling.Air conditioning works great after 9 years/90k miles.Trasmission and engine feel like they are working well.
Cons:
Very expensive repairs at times.Initial anti theft;car did not start problem after only one year.Recent ignition coil and assoc.parts.Brake problems initially.
Overall review:
It runs great but I have also spent a lot of money keeping it up.The head gasket is leaking oil at 90k miles.Like any other car that has problems be careful who works on it.I had a very bad experience with the elec.harness that is connected to the bearings.I was lied to;telling me the bearings were bad,I had to replace the harness anyway.Overall I have to say its a decent car.

Pros:
I really liked the looks of the car and the price. I purchased mine new in 2001.
Cons:
The car seemed to know when the warranty was up, everything broke after it was done.
36,000 miles - Rear Defroster Breaks
38,000 miles - one of the vents falls off
40,000 miles - antitheft system stops working
45,000 miles - air conditioner doesn't work on level 1 or 2 and barely works on 3...gotta go to 4 or 5
47,000 miles - latch to back seat breaks
50,000 miles - hood latch broken
50,000 miles - electrical system short
55,000 miles - dial to control the air flow, front defroster and such breaks
59,000 miles - battery dies
59,000 miles - head gasket issue
This car only has 60,000 miles on it as of 12/2006
Overall review:
Don't buy a Grand Am. I also know of several friends who have one and have all of the same issues and some even worse than mine. This is GM quality at it's worst.

Pros:
I like the styling of this car. It very fast and somewhat ok with gas mileage. With proper care this car is good for the 4 years only.
Cons:
Overpirced, after the 4 year warranty expires watch out it seems like the car new when the warranty was up.
Problems:
fuel injector went out
power seat disfunction
blenkers stopped working
windows got jammed
radio has a short
etc.
Overall review:
Ok just dont pay over 5000.00 for it your stomach will be hurting if you do.

Not Good
by Sad in PA on 07/12/2005.
Trim: 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE Sedan, Owned 4 years.

Pros:
Plenty of Room.
Cons:
-Brakes, have had the car 4 years, and replaced brakes 3 times. Battery dead after 2 years. Window motor keeps breaking. Have had it replaced twice. Horrible gas mileage. Slow to accelerate and its a v6! Horrible service, people have no clue about their own cars, or they're running a scam to get me to pay them more money.
Overall review:
Don't buy. I was warned and I didn't listen now I'm paying the price. Costs more in upkeep than anything else. Im glad I bought the extended warranty. Right after my original would have expired it would have cost me $1400 to have a gasket rteplaced. Everytime I bring it in there's something else wrong with it.
