Nice solid truck. by Never a GM on 01/23/2009. Trim: 2001 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab Short Bed 2WD, Owned 8 years.
Pros: Overall very pleased looks and runs like new.
Cons: AC seized and prevented vehicle from running. Temporary no start/no crank situation early in the morning on very cold days - workaround has been to insert key, removed key, re-insert and leave key in the on position for a few seconds before attempting to start. Last problem is intermittent and I have not had it looked after since those types of problems are the hardest for mechanics to troubleshoot (they usually replace parts from the most expensive to least...wonder why!)
Overall review: I would definetly buy another one despite the "minor" cons mentioned. Previous larger vehicle was a Venture Chev/GM (year 2000) purchased new and was a problematic, falling apart, lowest quality, lousy dealer serviced $34,000 rusting piece of unreliable junk. NEVER will I buy another GM product! For overall quality I favour the 2005 Hyundai Sonata. Purchased new, it has been 100% reliable.

Lemon Truck by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/26/2004. Trim: 2001 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab Short Bed 2WD, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Looks nice and has plenty of room inside.
Cons: Transmission went out at 36,500 miles, engine went out at 40,000 became a regular at the local Ford Service Department, went at least every other month with something wrong. Had tow package in truck with a 3/4
Overall review: I liked the way it looks and handled in the beginning but after a couple of years everything started to fall apart and everything that was plastic interior, exterior would break or crack, and be prepared to pay for the gas and the brakes. Very disappointed

sport package by LG in FLA on 03/30/2010. Trim: 2001 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab Flareside 2WD, Owned 9 years.
Pros: It has the 4.6 v8 and Ive had it since it was new. 170 k miles and it still drives like new. Replaced brakes a couple of times and a coil pack went out. Nothing else. very reliable, fit and finish like new. I put michelins on it and it improved the ride , handling and quietness. I have the sport package and would recomend it highly
Cons: none
Overall review: great truck. I drove chevy, ford, and dodge and toyota back to back and the ford was the most impressive. I had a new 09 chevy rental and thought it was very nice but was glad to be back in my ten year old f150. That says it all. I do like the new ones and the new nissans though.

Fix Or Repair Daily (FORD) by pato from Orange County on 03/23/2001. Trim: 2001 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab Short Bed 2WD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: none.
Cons: everything
Overall review: I test drove a ford f150 XLT with a 5.4 L and i was disappointed at the power that it had. It was even difficult for me to pass a Hyundai with this piece of junk. I don't know why ford owners feel proud of the piece of craps that they are driving. I'm glad i didn't make the mistake of buying the vehicle that has more recalls than the number of sorry trucks that are in the road. I test drove the chevy silverado with the 5.3 L and that is a real truck. If you don't believe so, go to the compare it section and find out for yourself. Whenever i come accross a f150 they don't want to race me because they know what pile of monkey crap they're driving. Only one Ford owner had the balls to race me with his 5.4 L and from 3 times that we raced, i smoked his steaming pile of crap all 3 times. However, for all of you Fix Or Repair Daily (FORD) owner's, i recommend you stick to all the news you can watch so you can be aware of the recalls that might be affecting your pile of crap on wheels.
