Sorry Mitsubishi

Trim: 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 3.5 XS, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros:
Looks good, lots of cargo space.
Cons:
Air Conditioner Compressor is very noisy and takes a while to reach the maximum coolong temp. I have a '91 Lumina with an AC that has never been serviced and it works better than the Montero. The front seats are very narrow and all seats could be could be a little softer. Very uncomfortable. Engine seems to have enough power but the way the Transmission shifts it take some of that needed power away. Seems to slip shifting into 3rd and Overdrive. The Engine has to work hard, turns a high RPM during highway driving. Do not like the steering, in gravel parking lots you seem to feel every rock you roll over. As soon as I can get what I owe on a trade in, it's gone!
Overall review:
Would not buy another one.

Great All Around SUV
by Ray from the Pocono Mountains of Pa. on 05/02/2001.
Trim: 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLS 4WD, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Owned it less than a year, but like it so far. Very quiet and smooth. Test drove a bunch and found this to be the best trade off for size, economy (bang for the buck), and comfort level. Liked the Mazda Tribute better for handling and power, but couldn't take the road noise, and engine noise. The Montero Sport still retains solid SUV performance with a real 4WD drivetrain and suspension for those of us who live where you NEED four-wheel drive.
Cons:
Needs a little more Horsepower!! I still can't believe it didn't come with driving lights as a standard item!!
Overall review:
So far, a very solid vehicle, very quiet, great stereo, very smooth engine and transmission, and a pleasure to drive.
