Excursion "King of the SUV's"
by NJ Excursion on 04/30/2010.
Trim: 2001 Ford Excursion XLT 4WD, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
This vehicle has to be the best SUV ever built, not only can it transport our family of seven, it can carry 1k lbs. of cargo and pull our 9k lbs. boat flawlessly. Even when were not towing a trailer we can carpool and have less vehicles being driven to the same location.
Even with the gas V10, it still gets over 15 MPG on the highway and transports my family in the safest vehicle on the road.
Discontinuing this vehicle has to have been the biggest mistake Ford had made. The Excursion is the "King of SUV's" long live the king!
Cons:
None, can't say I have found anything that I didn't like about it.
Overall review:
I love my Excursion!

Pros:
I have owned this vehicle for five years now. I also run my own BioDiesel in it and it runs great. My fuel cost is about $.65 a gallon. It has been up graded with the Banks System and prforms very well now. I have 240,000 miles on it and no troubles.
Cons:
Nothing.
Overall review:
Everyone should have one.

The best utility truck ever made!
by Lisa from Utah on 03/20/2006.
Trim: 2001 Ford Excursion Limited 2WD, Owned 5 years.

Pros:
I own the diesel, it gets great gas mileage. It tows all of my horses, and I can take 9 people and all of their gear comfortably!! I traveled through the rockey mountains towing horses, tack and people last summer. Not one worry the entire trip!
Cons:
The fact the gas companies are gouging the price of deisel fuel, after all, it is the cheapest fuel to manufacture!
Overall review:
I am greatly saddened that Ford has discontinued the diesel excursion. It is a perfect car for our needs. Nothing else on the market can compare. We will keep this car until it has 1,000,000 miles on it, then think hard wheather we will replace it. Or can replace it.

Best vehicle I have ever owned
by Chuck on 12/02/2003.
Trim: 2001 Ford Excursion Limited 4WD, Owned 2 years.
2
Pros:
Dependable, fun to drive, safe, easy to work on-change the oil etc., Can haul 8 or nine people with comfort, long range with 44 gallon tank- best trip 840 miles on one tank-7.3, large cargo space, massive pulling capacity
Cons:
Dealers don't know how to work on such a complex vehicle. Repair times can be lengthy when required. I had an oil leak that took four attempts to fix. It is fixed and holding for over a year now.
Brakes are a problem, but if you follow this advice:
Torque the lug nuts evenly to 155-165 FT LBS the brakes will last. My brakes were fine until after the state inspection. The Ford dealer removed a tire to check the brakes. Now that rotor of the tire he removed is warped.
Overall review:
This vehicle is best owned by someone who is not afraid to do the maintenance himself or herself. As I stated dealers have a hard time with this one.
I recommend this vehicle to any family that needs the space and economy this one offers. Trips with 8 people and all the luggage inside can be comfortable and safe with this vehicle. I recommend the V10 or the diesel models only.

Powerstroke Rules!!
by Cigarette Boater in MI on 11/01/2002.
Trim: 2001 Ford Excursion XLT 4WD, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
With the Powerstroke Diesel there is nothing you can't pull. This thing is a powerhouse!! 650 miles on one tank of fuel?? You can't beat it! Not to mention 8 people can ride w/ plenty of comfort. In-dash 6-disc CD is nice too. Great space for luggage or whatever you want to bring along. The Diesel attracts lots of attention; people know your coming. This truck has been places off road that many would be scared to go (of course getting almost 4 tons of truck stuck is a scary thought!).
Cons:
The Diesel attracts lots of attention; people know your coming. Looks like an Econoline van. Ugly from behind. Who cares though, your pulling more weight and filling up a lot less.
Overall review:
Has logged alot of very hard miles in its first year. No problems so far. I would only buy this truck w/ the Diesel.
