Solid Sporty Car by carboy18 on 07/12/2011. Trim: 2001 Lexus IS 300, Owned 1 year.
Pros: This car handles very well and is always getting compliments on its styling (which seems to age well). So far the reliability has been nothing less than Lexus great.
Cons: The only negative I can think of is that the suede seats are easy to stain and that some materials feel cheap.
Overall review: Overall a great sporty car with BMW like handling and Lexus reliability it just needs some softer interior surfaces, which Lexus fixed on the newer car.

Good car with some problems... by Sam, DC Area on 11/24/2003. Trim: 2001 Lexus IS 300, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Smooth ride
Cons: I've had random problems: CD player broke after 6 months, leak in the sunroof, key got stuck in the ignition (so the car did not turn off after key was pulled out)
Overall review: Good car, thank goodness for the warranty.

Lesux IS300 - The 30K Perspective... by Brashemus from Boston, MA on 05/04/2002. Trim: 2001 Lexus IS 300, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Eye Catching Appearance Cockpit Layout Electronic Shifting Overall Handling
Cons: No Adjustable Lumbar Support No Center Arm Rest Interior too Plastic and easily damaged
Overall review: Purchasing the Lexus IS300 has been quite an experience for me. Initially the car appeared able to live up to Lexus' claim that they were truly entring the mid-range performance car market. Coming from my 1997 SC300, I had high expectations for this new contender. The first 10K were a lot of fun. I was doing a lot of local (-50mi.) and the car was great for zipping around in traffic. 30K Later, I'm wishing I was still in my SC. The IS grabs you initially, and for short jaunts around town, it's a lot of fun. However for any long journey it's a poor example of the quality Lexus is renowned for. Comfort was apparently not high on the list of priorities as you get out of the care sore and fatigued from your drive. Transmission and Tire Recalls, unexplainable noises and intermitternt braking issues have plagued my car since purchase and from discussions with other IS owners, I'm not alone.

thecar by el duderino on 11/09/2001. Trim: 2001 Lexus IS 300, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: I test drove an IS300, BMW, and an Audi the same day. Honestly the IS300 performance-wise was better than both. However, the BMW and Audi are a little more decadent with wood paneling and all. Still for the price, the IS300 is a much better deal. Its also an equally comfortable ride for long trips.
Cons: Not as decked out as most Lexus but that's to keep the price affordable.
Overall review: Awesome, definently going to buy one over the Audi and BMW
