Pros: lots of room.
Cons: engine burns oil big time, my TOD will not disengage from 4 wheel drive, air conditioner very weak even after a 1200.00 overhaul, worried about engine falling apart with the intake manifold problem
Overall review: a very shoddy vehicle

Manufacturer recommended oil is too thin in hot climates by Doug from Arizona on 08/09/2006. Trim: 2000 Isuzu Trooper LS 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: This is safe, solid and has a fantastic 4WD system. I used 4WD every other week to go gold prospecting in the desert down very rough roads and I have no complaints about it. The TOD is superior to almost everything out there except a Land Rover or modified Land Cruiser. Great Visibility
Cons: I'm starting to realise that the manufacturer recommended oil (10W30)is NOT the appropriate oil in the Southwest USA. My mechanic has seen it before and many of the engine problems would have been avoided by using 10W40 or 15W40 premium oils. By the way my engine is currently being re-built because of this problem. The crankshaft seized because of inadequate lubrication from too thin oil (10W30). All four junk yard engines I've found died with exactly the same problem. Overall this vehicle has more frequent service intervals that other competitor models.
Overall review: If you maintain your Trooper WELL and use a thicker oil (10W40 or 15W40) than recommended, your vehicle can go for 300,000 miles. If you neglect maintenance your bank account will hate you.

Excellent vehicle by Bill & Kim in Denver on 06/14/2006. Trim: 2000 Isuzu Trooper LS 4WD, Owned 6 years.

Pros: Excellent handeling in bad weather conditions. Loves the snow! Warranty is the best there is!
Cons: Have had some engine problems, oil consumption, lot's of it. Isuzu recently replaced my engine at 82,000 miles and the engine has performed flawlessly, and I still have another 38,000 miles remaining on the warranty! Also had a problem with an air flow sensor but since replacing it, no more warning lights.
Overall review: Love this vehicle, bought it new in 2000 and intend to keep it forever.

Great SUV by Tony on 04/27/2005. Trim: 2000 Isuzu Trooper S 2WD, Owned 4 years.

Pros: Tons of room!
Cons: Seats are very, very uncomfortable. Replace the seats with something better and you won't find a better SUV for the money.
Overall review: Great SUV for the money
