GREAT COMMUTER VEHICLE
by Haihai from Miami on 06/16/2003.
Trim: 2000 Suzuki Esteem GL, Owned 3 years.

Pros:
If you are looking for a commuter car that has excellent mileage and give excellent performance then the Suzuki Esteem is the care for you. Regular maintenace and the car will take you every where without a problem. The Esteem would run circles around the Civic and Tercel when it comes to long term performance
Cons:
The only thing wrong with the car is that it does not provide a resale value, because it is not as popular as the Civic or the Tercel.
Overall review:
This is an excellent car for students who needs a vehicle within their budget.

The great gas car
by unhappy in kentuckly on 07/19/2006.
Trim: 2000 Suzuki Esteem GL 1.8, Owned 5 years.

Pros:
Great on gas mileage!! Love the fact with gas prices I never pay over $25 on a fill up.
Cons:
Over the past month I have had to put atleast $500 on it and it keeps stopping on me. Also it is a little to small to have a car seat for a child in it. Shakes really bad when it reaches certain speeds.
Overall review:
Great first car for someone. As far as a long term car, I wouldnt recommend it.

Reliable
by Maryland on 10/11/2005.
Trim: 2000 Suzuki Esteem GL, Owned 5 years.

Pros:
Great gas mileage, I have 105,000 miles on it. Replaced timing belts and belts as a precaution. I drive it 75 miles per day and get 32-35 mpg with the 1.6L automatic. To some it up, practical/reliable. Local mechanics are unsure how to work on this, fortunately I have a local dealer who is more reasonable for maintenance than the local mechanics.
Cons:
Had some issues at 90,000. Trouble codes are very generic, 'EVAP'.
Unable to put gas in the car, pump would shut off. Local mechanic told me after $300 in analysis it was a recall. Took it to dealer, recall did not fix it. They said baffles in fuel tank were blocked, big repair that did not fix it. Finally they found problem was charcoal canister. Will wait until emissions rolls around in 2 years and get it fixed or sell the car. Kind of embarassed having a full size truck and seen driving this, but with the gas mileage difference, that is OK.
Overall review:
Great and reliable transportation, I put 60,000 miles on it in 2 years had a few small issues, but now they are fixed.
