One of the most over rated cars on the road. by Richard on 07/30/2001. Trim: 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Only its external shape.
Cons: No cup holders. No glove compartment. No arm rest. A radio no better than one that can be bought at K-Mart for $99. Tremendous road noise. Car bounces around the road like a ping pong ball on water. Steering transmits every bump in the road thru to the driver. Engine sounds like a sewing machine. The Tiptronic transmission blew up and had to be replaced at 8,000 miles.
Overall review: Nice car to look at. Terrible car to drive. Very over rated particularly at the price level.

Iconic Sports Car by P-Car nut from KY on 04/22/2014. Trim: 2000 Porsche 911, Owned 2 years.
Pros: I drive it daily. It is one of the best sports cars that you can actually drive as a daily driver as well as have fun with it on the weekends. The steering is precise. The handling is precise. The acceleration is formidable and when you are just driving through town it is docile and comfortable. I have owned Corvettes in the past which have remarkable acceleration but terrible road feel and vague steering. The Porsche 911 feels like a true sports car. The number one thing I like however is the timeless classic styling. I have a 14 year old car and many times when I'm filling up at the gas pump the onlookers think it is brand new! A true design masterpiece!
Cons: The headlight design on the 996 series is a little different from the classic round or oval shape which they went back to in the 997. It may not be quite as pretty from the front view but it is still a stunner overall.
Overall review: Make sure you get a complete inspection by a Porsche mechanic before buying one to be sure everything has been maintained properly. You can run into some high repair bills if previous owners have not done all the routine maintenance and care. However, there are many of them out there that have been well cared for by enthusiasts and make a great bargain in a high end sports car. The other thing is you should drive it! Don't let it sit in the garage, collect dust and just look at it. Get it out on the road and enjoy the experience. Porsches are made to drive!

The Ultimate Driving Machine by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/29/2009. Trim: 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, Owned 4 years.
Pros: The car is absolutely awesome on the road. It has the looks, comfort and performance you expect from a Porsche.
Cons: Plastic rear window (has been replaced with glass) and the darn transmission which went our at 60k. Apparently a problem on all 6 speeds and not cheap to fix.
Overall review: Have had four years now and as I near 40, I cannot wait to get the new PDK C4S.

Pros: Drives and handles great. It looks just as good. Interior is great with the technic, carbonfiber, and full leather interior, it's worth the extra money. Just feel good to get in.
Cons: Back rest of seat a little narrow
Overall review: My first and what have I been waiting for.
