Unreliable. Poor quality. Not a wise choice for a car. by Never again a Mercedes from San Carlos, CA on 11/11/2005. Trim: 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK430, Owned 5 years.
Pros: My CLK is very stylish and projects a pleasant image. I get lots of compliments driving it. The acceleration is crisp and handling is sharp and precise.
Cons: Very costly to maintain. Poor electronics quality. Constant problems with check engine light. Poor trim quality. Very unreliable.
Overall review: Consider a CLK if you have extra money to burn on repairs and malfunctions. My CLK has been constantly in the shop. It is extremely unreliable and there is constantly something wrong with it. I do not recommend this car.

Stylish coupe by Old car guy from Oregon on 03/10/2011. Trim: 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK320, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: As an "old car guy" I've owned many fine automobiles. Although the Mercedes isn't the all time best it rates quite high. It is comfortable, stylish, well appointed and of good quality (as it should be). The handling isn't as sporty as a BMW three series but it can be bought for less than a Bimmer and is probably as comfortable. The Mercedes has the old recirculating ball steering rather than rack and pinion. It is less accurate and doesn't track as well. This may be partly due to tires. If buying one make sure that you have the history of the car. If not properly maintained they can become very expensive to own.
Cons: The steering and occasional electrical glitches.
Overall review: I really like the car in spite of its faults. It has a quality feel and looks great. I get positive comments about it.

Gorgeous but expensive car by PJ on 01/26/2006. Trim: 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK430, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Looks awesome, drives real nice. People love this car, a real attention getter. Lots of safety features and a great stereo.
Cons: HUGE maintenance bills, had to replace both motor mounts, fuel tank sensors, engine & steering dampers and air-conditioning before 40,000miles. Tires cost a fortune and most tire stores have to order them which can take up to a week. AMG rims damage easy and are very expensive to repair or replace. Paint chips and scratches are very common on these cars; I notice a new chip or scratch every week. DO NOT DRIVE IN ICE OR SNOW, I say ice because I live in the south, this car is dangerous in those conditions. Compact Disc changer is in the trunk.
Overall review: A beautiful car with timeless lines, this car is six years old and still looks modern. The silver on gray is a gorgeous combination and xenon lights are a must. Just be ready for anything and look for a GOOD aftermarket warranty, my warranty is terrible and has not covered any of the aforementioned problems.
