Our Second One
by Scott on 10/24/2002.
Trim: 2000 GMC Safari AWD, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
We bought our van with a conversion package. While we love everything about the stock version of our vehicle, some of the coversion features have been a pain. I wish I had purchased this with the SLT full leather featuer set. I think we would have been happier. This is the second vehicle like this we have owned, we had a 1986 Chevy Astro, which we put 160,000 miles on. In that whole time the only repair work to take place was on the water pump. I can't wait to see what GM does with this product next.
Cons:
Don't buy a coversion package. GM sells all the good features in their high end trim levels, I think you would be happiers with the GM quality.
Overall review:

Pros:
i like the four wheel drive and the power to pull trailers and my bass boat. I like the way that you set in it and the way that it drives . When I bought the van I didn't expect it to ride like a car and handle like a sports car, but the ride and handling are not to bad and it is easy to get in and out of ,with plenty of room for 6 people and there golf culbs in the back
Cons:
Gas milage could be better and in the winther I get a lot of snow and ice build up on the wipers need a head duckon the drivers feet
Overall review:
I like the Safari Van and plan on keeping it for 10 years and I beleave that it will do everthing that I need it to do . I don't know any other van car or truck that could meet all my needs as will

OK ... but ...
by Dave from Joplin, MO on 01/24/2002.
Trim: 2000 GMC Safari 2WD, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Engine power and fuel economy are excellent compared to other minivans - especially for the extra size of the Safari. Gauges are easy to read. There is plenty of room for folks or for "stuff."
Cons:
Driver's seating is VERY uncomfortable for tall persons. Quality of seats all around is very poor. Various rattles are constant and annoying - especially from the seats. The 3rd seat (far rear) is very difficult to enter and exit - the center bench seat is too wide.
Overall review:
For the size ... and for a minivan, the Safari has relatively good acceleration, general engine power, and decent fuel economy. But overall comfort is pathetic. I'm not in a big hurry to unload this one, but I won't buy another one!
