Lexus Pursuit of Perfection - NOT by ericok on 08/12/2010. Trim: 2000 Lexus RX 300 AWD, Owned 10 years.
Pros: Comfortable interior, no rattles, fairly decent handling.
Cons: Bought this car new. Incredibly unreliable for a Lexus. By the time I've accumulated 110,000 miles, I've had to replace the engine rear main seal ($1700.00) and the transmission ($4500). None of which was covered by Lexus. This is the first car I've ever owned in which I've had to have a transmission replacement. Same for a rear main seal. Horribly pathetic.
Overall review: Stay away from any used RX300 wilth anything close to 100,000 miles.

Very good and reliable by Rich on 12/18/2008. Trim: 2000 Lexus RX 300 AWD, Owned 8 years.
Pros: 53,000 miles and reliability has bee very good. Be sure to use FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL on oil changes, Iv'e used it from day one of purchase. There have been cases of oil gelling. this should preclude any problems. Every two years I change trans, radiator, differential and trasfrer case fluids I keep around 33 or 34 psi in tires and average around 19 MPG around town and around 26 mpg on a long drive. You can use regular gas but it seems to perform much better on a middle grade or premium. I use shell middle grade
Cons: Lexus service exspensive. "D" indicator light burned out but not that much on an inconvienance to warrant a change. I've had much better handling cars, but whant do you exspect with a SUV. Just drive accoudingly and you will have no problems
Overall review: Overall very reliable. If you are contemplating buying a used one have the engine checked for oil gelling just in case, you just don't know how previous owner maintained their car

Pros: Have rarely had to put in shop for anything other than basic things It rides pretty smooth Fits my personalilty
Cons: Wish it was roomier
Overall review: I've had this car for six years and rarely have I had to put it in the shop for anything but basic maintenance. However, I have had a problem with the engine light coming on and staying on, even though the dealership could find nothing wrong with it.

A Great SUV by Lexus Owner from Andover, MA on 06/29/2002. Trim: 2000 Lexus RX 300 AWD, Owned 2 years.
Pros: A well built, luxurious, extremely reliable car that can handle any type of on road condition. If you travel in snow, this is your car. With its ground clearance and AWD this car will travel over 6" of unplowed like it wasn't even there. Comfortable seats, great stereo good steering and pick up make it a pleasure to drive with adequate trunk space for your luggage.
Cons: The Bridgestone tires - I replaced them with Michelins which provide a better ride. The car's high center of gravity means you must take the corners slower (but that's the same with any SUV).
Overall review: If you are in the market for an SUV, I highly recommend this car. Lexus service is second to none and their repair record runs circles around Mercedes and BMW. I can't wait untill Lexus comes out with a AWD sedan.
