Poor Mans Corvette
by Jim in Rio Rancho NM on 08/03/2008.
Trim: 2000 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Coupe, Owned 8 years.
1
Pros:
Truly svelte styling, coupled with an un-stoppable power plant, the Z-28 is truly the "poor mans Corvette"
Ease of customization, combined with true economy, this car makes an excellent long range weapon, and is just as capable in the point and shoot .
Cons:
I say poor mans Corvette because the interior trim is basically sub-standard. Living in New Mexico with the broiling effects of the sun, most of the plastic parts soften in the heat and warp, ie: cup holder bracket, console lid, door pocket walls, ect...
Also the front seats could have been built a little better, weighing in at 160 lbs, the lateral acceleration forces the car is capable of while cornering have worn out the seat with only 84000 miles or so on it (not a real complaint when you should see the smile on my face while cornering at speeds only a corvette can match in the stock)
Overall review:
Solid engineering coupled with some cheap parts to bring the cost down ( you thought you were paying for the radio??), makes the Camaro a real stunner without getting stung to hard.

The Sports Car of Tomorrow Yesterday
by Adam on 12/11/2006.
Trim: 2000 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
Comfortable seats for someone over 6', great gas mileage (28+ highway, 23-24 mixed), Great sounding stereo (500 Watts!) w/ very useful steering wheel mounted controls. Superior braking, and performance even for a v6. Great, easy to view gauges, in general great car at night. T-tops give you a convertible without being a convertible. Pass-Key security system.
Cons:
Fit and finish are something to be desired, the leather quality isn't great, although it is perforated. That great sounding stereo eats stock speakers, and unfortunately since the stock amplifier uses a combo of 2 and 4 ohm you cant do aftermarket speakers without completely redoing it. Excessive wind noise, and strang rattles that come from door panels (door lock indicator)
Overall review:
While i may have some gripes, in general the 2000 camaro is a great car, the iterior quality is sub-par, the leather is cheap and hard, and there is simply to much road noise, but this is a sports car with a good deal of glass. The stereo is far above average with great low and high end even though it eats the speakers. I am suprised that the gas mileage is above average especially considering the cars size, granted you wont confuse it with a civic but this car is way cooler than a civic.

Fun and the ladies love to ride with the top down.

Pros:
I love everything there is to this car. It is fun, comfortable, and it gets alot of looks.
Cons:
I don't like that I had two knobs on the dash broke off.
Overall review:
This Car is alot fun and it gets alot of looks. The v6 is alot faster than I thought it would be. I have always been a Jeep guy and getting a sports car was a big change. But this was a great car to get after being in a jeep, cause it is tough for a sports car. I'm not scared to take it down dirt roads or hit broken pavement. The seats are very comfortable for sport car seats. The features are really great to have, they are simple but they do what you want them to. But most of all you get alot of looks with the top up or down, but who would want to put the top up? If you are looking for a less expensive sports car convertible, then this is the car for you.
