10 Years Old; 70K miles; Going Strong! by T from Scottsdale, AZ on 03/25/2010. Trim: 2000 Acura 3.5RL with Nav. System, Owned 7 years.
Pros: RELIABLE. Cheap and easy to maintain. Smooth and quiet ride, even when going at high speeds. Comfy, roomy seats that can easily fit big and tall men. Lots of leg room in the backseat.
Cons: It's few cons are mainly superficial or due to its age. It's unsexy, wide and boat-like. I jokingly call it "the old man car." The CD player in the trunk is dead and would cost hundreds to replace. A window in the backseat can no longer be rolled down due to some electrical glitch. The nav system works well, but remains stuck in the year 2000. Everything else works great though!
Overall review: A roomy, luxurious (considering when it was built) and reliable car for someone on a budget. It's one of the nicest used cars you will find.

A True Gentleman: Classy and Reliable by Adam from Philadelphia on 03/16/2008. Trim: 2000 Acura 3.5RL, Owned 8 years.
Pros: The RL is a classy looking car with a solid build quality. Interior is well appointed with wood trim, telescoping wheel, audio controls on wheel, 8-way power heated seats, though understated in comparison to Lexus & BMW (but comparable for $10K less than those makes)! Acceleration is admirable for a V6 with an audible roar at higher RPMs and virtual silence at highway speeds. Smooth and seamless on long trips, and incredibly reliable. Rear seating is spacious and more comfortable than front seats. Trunk space is generous. Very capable in snow (combination of FWD and overall weight).
Cons: The weight of the car, coupled with a capable V6, makes for less than ideal gas mileage (17/20); however, a V8 would yield similar if not worse results. Some flecking of finish/alloy on wheels. Steering feel is almost too effortless, but expected in a car of this caliber.
Overall review: At 98,000 miles, still purring with only routine maintenance required (brakes, recommended mileage services, etc.). My Acura dealer states that they've seen RLs pass through with over 180K miles - engines are bulletproof if maintained properly. Will keep the car as long as it will keep me riding. Still looks brand new inside and out when clean - purchasing a more expensive car with initial quality of materials pays off over time. While not as revered or recognized as other fine makes like Lexus and BMW, the RL can hold its own and is every bit as mannerly.
