Travellin van by Mark from ontario on 02/06/2011. Trim: 1999 Dodge Caravan Grand Sport, Owned 6 years.
Pros: Roomy decent gas mileage for vehicle of this size, dependable- drove across North America both ways and never let me down
Cons: Brakes wear quickly, transmission problems, rust on sliding doors
Overall review: Considering the price compared to Honda or Toyota it is still a better deal, afew problems make up for the huge price difference if you are looking to buy used

AWESOME MINIVAN -DODGE CARAVAN!!!!!! by An MSN Autos Consumer on 04/17/2003. Trim: 1999 Dodge Caravan Base, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Its Smooth, Reliable, and the Engine Is PERFECT!!!!! I reccomend this vehicle to ANYONE!!!!! The 3.0 is OUTSTANDING!:)
Cons: Well....The transmission was a problem, only because the dealer gave us the wrong fluid which led to a transmission failure. But...The 1999's are equipped with a new solenoid pack to REDUCE TRANSMISSION FAILURES:)
Overall review: 100% STRONG AND RELIABLE BUY ONE:)

Trouble Free and Comfortable Van by Northeast Driver on 03/13/2003. Trim: 1999 Dodge Caravan Base, Owned 4 years.
Pros: Large interior space, reliable 3-speed transmission, 21 mpg average mileage, great visibility forward and rear, roller wheels on the rear seats make it easy to remove or swap them.
Cons: Our vehicle has the 4 cylinder engine, acceleration is slow from 40-60 mph, great above 60. The engine was sluggish in the first 8k miles, after that the power appeared to increase noticeably. Ground clearance on the front air dam is low, watch those parking bumpers.
Overall review: We bought the base model new in '99. It now has 42k miles on it. This is our second van with the 3-speed transmission (the reliable one). We new that the 4-speed tranny was a problem. Reliability has been excellent, it probably went to the dealer 2-3 times during the 36k warranty period for small items. Interior noise is OK at highway speeds, could be better. With snow tires and non-agressive driving it goes very well in snow. Heater warms quickly on 15 degree days and the A/C is great on 90 degree days. Routine maintenance costs are reasonable. Overall satisfaction with the vehicle is high and would gladly buy another one, this time with the 3.3 liter V6.

Fan of caravan by An MSN Autos Consumer on 05/01/2012. Trim: 1999 Dodge Caravan SE, Owned more than 10 years.
Pros: Can carry many things with the seats removed. Good on gas on the highway. Very useful vehicle.
Cons: Rear bench seat too heavy for one person to move. 100000 miles power windows went. 118000 miles, all brake lines had to be replaced. Lines were expensive.
Overall review: It has been the best vehicle that I have owned since new, I still own it and I suppose it may last four to five more years.recommend you see repair history so that there aren't any surprises.
