Nice truck if you can't afford a Ram.
by Darkwing duck from central N.Y. on 09/30/2001.

Pros:
Definitely a sharp truck. Much better looking than the S-10 I had before this. Big 6 cylinder has all the power needed for most tasks.
Cons:
Could not find used truck with a 5 speed. Had to get an automatic, which offers less control in snowy weather. 53000 miles and no real problems yet.Stereo speakers in the rear seating area mounted too low, should be up on the posts. Better yet, a 6 speaker system would be great. No lumbar supports in the seats which should be standard on an SLT model.
Overall review:
I like the truck quite a bit, but Chrysler could pay a little more attention to driver comfort and the sound system in thier top of the line truck models. Does look good though.

No gas mileage at any speed or exhaust system

Pros:
Size not too big not too small Fit and finish good. Paint held up well with general care.
Cons:
3.9 l is a very sluggish gas guzzler. My 5.4 l super crew will blow the doors off this one and still get 3 miles per gallon better.
Front end parts expensive to change out. All ball joints riveted labor intensive. Intake manifold leak common problem causes metered air fuel air problems. Rough idle poor fuel economy and $500 to repair to get from 12 mpg to 14 mpg
Overall review:
Good work truck. Easy to see around truck in tight areas of conjested work sites. Truck has very poor power and acceleration and fuel economy after magnaaflow cat and low restriction exhaust.

175,000 miles and going strong!

Pros:
Excellent looks, Very dependable
Cons:
V-6 gas mileage only 17mpg hgwy. Persistant engine hesitation when first started but dissappears after 2 minutes and is fine 'til shut off again.
Overall review:
I've had the truck since new, now has 175,000 miles on it--mostly highway. Other than ball joint problems when new, the truck has only needed routine maintenance. Still has original exhaust. Front brakes only replaced once. Rear brakes Still original!! Towed my 8000lb sailboat/trailer combo from Ft. Lauderdale to Presque Isle,Maine without any problems. Not bad for a V-6 standard. That was when the truck only had 120,000 miles on it. Last month, the throwout bearing was chattering so I had it replaced. While it was apart, I had them replace the clutch and pressure plate too. They both looked new when removed. I also replaced the front wheel bearing myself at that time due to being noisy. I've had a nagging problem with it running rough when first started which several trips to different mechanics over the past 3 years have not been able to diagnose. It dissappears after 2 minutes though and I'm used to it now.

Air Conditioning Issues

Pros:
(No data provided)
Cons:
I've had the air conditioner fixed twice. The second time it was out of warranty and cost me over $600 dollars even though the truck had less than 40,000 miles on it.
It has never run especially well when first started.
Overall review:
Other than the problems mentioned, this has been a good vehicle.
