A real SUV with room for 7 and can tow.. by An MSN Autos Consumer on 02/15/2008. Trim: 1998 Chevrolet Astro 2WD, Owned 4 years.
1
Pros: We love the large sized van.
Cons: We wish there was a door on the drivers side...
Overall review: We bought ours with 48,000 and now at over 80,000 with oil changes only, it is still going strong! We hope to have it for many more years.

Great Van by Kevin from Norfolk on 01/27/2008. Trim: 1998 Chevrolet Astro 2WD, Owned 10 years.
1
Pros: good cargo space, powerful engine, smooth ride overall. very dependable vehicle overall.
Cons: tires wear quickly due to idler arm issues, transmission sticks at first gear when hot, brakes seam to be an ongoing issue. some interior trim parts are made cheaply and have fallen apart. arm rest in door is all cracked.
Overall review: Bought the Astro new in '98, this is a very practical van, can load all the kids, bags, surfboards, etc. I have had issues with brakes and transmission. Other than that, I have been very pleased with the reliability. I can't seem to part with my Astro even though it's getting up in age.

Excellent multi-use vehicle by EJN on 12/18/2004. Trim: 1998 Chevrolet Astro 2WD, Owned 6 years.
1
Pros: The 21 mpg and capability of 5500 lb towing cap. Reliability is great except for 2 power window motors and a rear axle in 130K miles.
Cons: Front tires do not last as long as a rear drive car
Overall review: Excellent multi-use vehicle that transports passengers in comfort as well as carrying cargo. Great camping vehicle. If people didn't sing "married man married man driving a mini-van" all of the time I would buy another one.
