Suburbans are the best! by Iceman from Oregon on 01/12/2006. Trim: 1995 Chevrolet Suburban K1500 4WD, Owned 6 years.

Pros: Great truck. Handles great. Better ride than a Land Cruiser! (seriously!) Holds 8 comfortably + gear. 4wd is great and easy to use. 6 CD changer is sweet.
Cons: Some problems due to age.
Overall review: Good truck

The Epitome of Greatness by Jeff on 11/15/2005. Trim: 1995 Chevrolet Suburban K1500 4WD, Owned 7 years.

Pros: Power, styling, drivability, Safety, Reliability. This truck has 233,000 miles and it's still on the original engine, and transmission. The interior can't be matched at least not by any other domestic full sized SUV of the same year. The 4wd capability of this truck is awesome despite its long wheel base I've only been stuck once, briefly. The ride quality is very good for a vehicle of its size, and it's more quiet than a Toyota Camry of the same year. Fixing it is so much easier than on a Ford or Dodge. Almost everything that you need to get to is in easy reach of a socket wrench. The build quality of this Suburban is the reason my family has driven Chevrolet since the early 50's.
Cons: The only persistent problems with this Suburban are the A/C, Battery Terminals. I admit, the A/C system in this year isn't the greatest, I've been through 4 Compressors since purchasing it, however one must remember, that 93-95 were transition years to R134a, perhaps the engineers had trouble compensating for the higher pressure that accompanied it. The Battery terminals are the feature a dual wire system on the negative side which leads to constant corrosion. However this problem is widespread on almost any GM vehicle that uses this system, so it's not really a 95 Suburban thing, even the current model uses this system, and it has the same problems. I'm fine with the gas mileage.
Overall review: I believe that this year of Suburban was truly the pinnacle of achievement for GM during the 90's the earlier models are plagued braking, and safety problems due to there lack of airbags, and faulty ABS systems. The newer models are plagued by transmission problems, and fuel injector problems that accompanied the switch to Sequential Fuel Injection. The interior of the 95 definitely had something right because if you look at any modern Silverado, Tahoe, or Suburban, you can see the styling that was introduced in the 95 Suburban, and Tahoe. All one needs to do to keep their 95 going is to just take good care of it. After 233,000 miles mine has never given me trouble. I hope to someday pass my Burb on to my son. By the way I have an 1500 LT with the 4L60-E Transmission. This car is loaded with every feature GM offered except keyless entry.

Pros: This truck is AWESOME! So much room, great camping truck, great for hauling.
Cons: poor MPG, but what to expect on a big truck like this.
Overall review: Overall this is a great family truck. Not a great commuter, but awesome when you need the room!

Chevy Rules Again by Rocking in Missouri on 08/30/2005. Trim: 1995 Chevrolet Suburban K1500 4WD, Owned 8 years.

Pros: This is the ultimate comfort for family travel. Three row seating is a must have with children. Smooth traveling on interstate holds speed really well, not alot of shifting in the transmission. The most amazing gas mileage for a vehicle this size. Lots of room under hood for changing out spark plugs, wires, etc.
Cons: Some funky sounds coming from the air conditioning motor, gas pump in gas tank. Not alot of speed on hills, boggs down a quit a bit.
Overall review: We bough this SUV back in 98, have had it for 6 years, we love it. It now has over 180,000 miles and we have never put it in the shop for much more than a paint job when it was hit. The other car was damaged much worse. This is an awsome vehicle and I recommend it as a weekend family car but only because of current gas prices.
