Excellent buy for a future Classic by Cincinnati RadarB8 on 05/31/2006. Trim: 1991 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 coupe, Owned 9 years.
Pros: I love the way this car handles. This is my 4th third generation Camaro and I plan on keeping it as long as I can.
Overall review: If you love to drive a car with American muscle, I recommend the Z28. It's an affordable alternative to the earlier years but the 91' still has style that stands out.

Reliable, great MPG, and good looks to boot! by Brett from Missouri on 06/26/2005. Trim: 1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS coupe, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Excellent quality. Before the recent spike in 3rd gen prices on eBay, these were rediculously affordable. Reliability is the absolute best thing about this car. 204,xxx miles on mine (which has the 305 TBI V8 and 700-R4 auto) with the stock motor/tranny and it's as healthy as new car. No smoke, no oil consumption, smooth running. And I PUNISH this thing. I mean, I take good care of it, but I drive it HARD. It regularly gets ran at the drag strip for kicks, even with the high miles, and gets floored at least 50% of the time. With my only mods being straight pipes, open element air cleaner, a chip, and 4 degrees timing advance, it gets 30 mpg+ on the highway. Unreal for a V8. Good car.
Cons: GM made a poor choice in selecting the L03 TBI 305 for the V8. Great torque, and good for doing burnouts, but they really should have put the LB9 TPI 305 setup in these cars. Decent first gear acceleration, but the vehicle feels really weak compared to both the TPI 3rd gens and the newer Camaros, and lack of power is the car's only drawback. The RS's have traction issues in bad weather, partially because of a lack of a positraction rear axle. Try to find a 5 speed RS, as the auto's have both worse rear gears (2.73's) and the 700-R4, which can be a problematic transmission. Brakes are a weak point. They work fine, but the RS's stock systems don't age well, and require good maintenance.
Overall review: The RS in it's stock form is a excellent choice for a daily driver or a project car (as in one you're going to replace the stock powertrain/drivetrain in). However, for a weekend/nice weather sports car, the TPI IROC's and Z-28's blow away the RS in acceleration, handling and braking, especially the 350 TPI vehicles. If you're looking for a good sports car of this vintage, stay away from the RS and do yourself a favor. Shell out a little extra $$$ and buy a 350 TPI IROC or Z-28. None of these stock RS's can even compare. The RS is solid, however, in regards to reliability, handling, and overall quality. I drive over 100 miles a day, and have put over 30,000 miles on mine in the 2 years I've owned it, and it's taken everything I've thrown at it. Good solid car. A little too weak to be a full blown sports car, but great for a daily driver, and man does it look good when it's clean. Still turns heads when it's waxed up, and I'm cruising with it.
