THE BLUE CAR
by Robert from Twin Falls, Idaho on 05/16/2010.
Trim: 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier VL coupe, Owned more than 10 years.

Pros:
The reliabilty of the car, have had it since it was new, so i know the history. It has 250,000 miles on it and still runs good, leaks a little oil and gas mileage is good, not as good as 5 or so years ago. It has only left me stranded one time in all the years and most of the repairs are affordable, if you can find some of the oddball parts, usually a junk yard has these, most of the work I do myself. It handles great on snow and ice.
Cons:
Although reliable it does seem to lack power sometimes. The interior just seems to fall apart, especially door parts, and the window channel guides break easily and are getting hard to find, so the windows stay up a lot and need to be rolled down with two hands. The seat material did not last long, trim broke easily. Not a lot of room inside, there are five seat belts, but only four can sit in it.
Overall review:
well if i had it to do over again i would and if they made these cars new still then i would consider getting another one

The car just won't die

Pros:
Virtually everything is easy to get to whether you fix it yourself or someone else does.. the jobs are less labor intensive. Rarely leaves you broken down on the street. I've just continued to use my Mobil 1, 15,000 mile synthetic oil and yes I only change it every 15,000 miles... not a single issue with the engine. Compression is still very good after all these miles.
Cons:
Crank sensors and radiators haven't lasted much
Overall review:
My vehicle has over 340,000 miles on it. Been driving ten years and it's the only car I've owned. I intend to keep it as long as the body holds up (probably will fall apart before the engine or transmission does.) I've been told for years by mechanics it's not worth putting any money into it but I continue to do so as the costs have not been dramatic or excessive and everyone is amazed by this thing. I've saved years of payments and higher insurance costs (since I have liability only) because it just keeps going like the Energizer bunny!!

Great first car, hard little worker, GREAT on gas and comfortable!
by Blackmjc, Glen Burnie - Maryland on 02/25/2005.
Trim: 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier VL coupe, Owned 3 years.

Pros:
Great first car!Tough, sporty without looking cheap. The interior is pretty comfortable, still sporty, seats are nice and plush and comfortable, have to straddle the backseat,GREAT rear factory speakers! great bass. Front speakers placed well, so you dont have to crank it up all the way because the speakers are right on the dash! Very dependable - GREAT on gas, comfortable ride, short in back so its easy to park, good trunk space, esp for a single person or a small family. Just a great basic, stylish all around car, touch bumpers for first time drivers(ME!) hehe and its got the sporty looks we all young people like without being over 20k (I'm 23)
Cons:
Exposed bolts are the only downside to the interior, backseat room for a two door, otherwise up front, nice room. Car and steering wheel seems to shake when over 60MPH (my dad who is a mechanic thinks its the tires - might be because its been sitting for a while before I bought it)because it has original tires - there was no spare in my car. But that's about it...execpt my altnerator and ignition switch and shocks and struts needed to be replaced the first few mo's I got it (shocks and struts prob because it lived 11 yrs in BMore - ouch!)
Overall review:
I got this car for $150 from an older lady who works with one of my sisters, she had bought a new car,was going to donate this one,it had just over 58k miles on it when I got it(now has 62k)only ops it had was A/C and Rear Defrost,I put in a new Jensen combo deck. I paid $200 for the parts,my dad and his freind did the install and inspec, for FREE(hookups!)and my dad replaced the air filter, battery and connectors, wipers, flushed the radiator, replaced the alterator and I think the carb.for an overhaul, not bad for a 12 yr old car that was hardly taken car of by the previous owner.Wont cost more than $200 on repairs, and still have a great car for around $1k!Even made a Fast Pass at the MD Inspec!

Pros:
Styling and performance is good for the money, and with a V-6 you have lots of options and abilities.
Cons:
Only the front-wheel drive, which is not anything I can't handle and the brown interior I have.
Overall review:
Great car for the money. Good perfromance and overall great car.
